Shahrukh Khan has ruled the overseas circuit single handily since hindi films started doing well overseas from around the mid 90's. But has the unthinkable happened today with the emergence of Akshay Kumar? The two stars are running in a neck to neck race for supremacy in India but it seemed Shahrukh Khan had the clear upper hand in overseas but the box office results of Singh Is Kinng and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi suggest that the Khiladi is also making huge strides in the overseas market. The first three days figure of Singh Is Kinng in the major markets United Kingdom and North America are actually higher than Rab Ne Bana Di JodI

The wider release in more markets and record breaking business in the Middle East has meant that Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has finished the first weekend around 1.50 crore ahead of Singh Is Kinng which is much less than most would have expected. There is no doubt that Akshay is making inroads into Shahrukh's overseas supremacy with Hrithik Roshan being third and the others having a limited market. Chandni Chowk To China will give more answers as to how close Shahrukh and Akshay are in the overseas market. The target for this film should be similar business to Shahrukh Khan's Don which was a film on the same lines as Chandni Chowk To China as both are action films with Don being an action thriller and Chandni Chowk To China being a an action comedy.
