We caught up with Jaya and her daughter Varsha, and here’s what they had to say:

According to Varsha, Jaya would have been treated with more respect in the house if she was fluent in English. She says, “They did not consider the fact that she is older than all of them. If she cannot speak the language that does not mean that they should disrespect her. They need to understand our culture; she did not get the treatment which she deserved.”

Varsha adds that her mother was herself on the show. “She is a reserved person, and does not like to trouble anyone whatever the situation is. Even at home, we have to ask her whether she is hungry or wants anything. She diverts her mind by reading the Bible; if someone talks to her only then will she open up.”

The family was worried about Jaya’s health before she went on the show, but there was no question of stopping her. “When BB calls, no one wishes to say no. So mummy said she wanted to go and immediately bought all her medicines for next three months. We missed her but got to see her on TV,” adds Varsha. “The best part is, thanks to the show, the misunderstanding with Rakhi has been resolved, as Rakhi has been keeping a close watch on our mother since she entered the house.”

Jaya says it was a nice experience to spend a week in the house, but she was hurt by Tanaaz and the other girls’ behaviour as they would always laugh when she was around. “Once I asked them that why are you laughing, so they told me that aap bhajiwale ke jaise votes mangti ho, jaise se woh chila ke bhaji bhaji bolta hai. It had hurt me a lot and I cried in the toilet that day.”

As for Kamal’s behaviour, Jaya says, “I don’t know what he said behind my back. I would get annoyed just looking at him. He claimed he is a hero, but he looks 50 years old.” She, however, got along well with Vindoo, who she thought was exactly like her son Rakesh. “Vindoo is a nice guy, though he sometimes gets hyper. I will vote for him and appeal to the audience as well. I want him to win the show but I think either Shamita or Raju will win it.”

Jaya missed her family while in the house and says she will accept any work that comes her way. She says she is happiest about her improved relationship with her daughter Rakhi. “I am very happy that she has been enquiring about me since when I went into the house, I want to thank Jesus for it. I will go and hug her first and then we will stay together. If Rakhi wants toMarry Elesh, it is fine, and I will help her.”
