A single dialogue in the show Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai ended up getting the lead actor and producer arrested for offending the sentiments of the Valmiki Samaj in Jalandhar, Punjab.

There were small riots in the city over the dialogue, and the Punjab cops showed up in Mumbai to arrest actor Angad Hasija and producer Rajan Shahi. The two were, however, granted interim bail.
Producer Rajan Shahi said, “The cops from Punjab had come to arrest both of us. We have been granted interim bail for a couple of days. I cannot speak more as it is a court matter. The channel is handling the case for us and they are the best people to comment further.”
Meanwhile, shaken by the incident, Angad’s wife and daughter have temporarily shifted out of their home.
The allegedly insulting dialogue between Angad Hasija (Alekh) and Alok Nath (Mamaji) goes like this:
Alekh: “Woh main Valmikiji ki kahani padh raha tha, Mamaji. Woh kya sach hai ki Valmikiji chor se sadhu ban gaye? Koi aadmi itna badal sakta hai kya?”
Mamaji: Valmikiji ke paas himmat thi atmavishwas tha, beta. Jiske mann mein atmaa aur vishwas ho, use koi nahi rok sakta.”
